For the month of January Company 49 responded to 9 medical calls and 10 Fire/Accident Calls
Saturday night we had our first Meat Raffle of the year. We had a packed house and had to set up additional tables and chairs. We sold triple meat rounds and had a GREAT night, again thanks for your continued support and we hope to see you in February.
The South Newton Fire Company is selling t-shirts with our Engine, Tanker & Brush trucks on the back. The cost is $20 for S-XL, $22 - 2XL, $24 - 3XL. We will be taking orders until January 31. If you are interrested in ordering 1 or more contact Fire Chief Dan Burkett @ chief0049@yahoo.com
This Saturday night will be the first Meat Raffle of the new year. Come on out and bring a friend or two and have a good time. Also we will be starting a NEW promotion for 2012, a customer loyalty card, come out and get yours for a chance at extra prizes! Doors open at 5 pm, meal served at 6 pm and the raffle starts at 7 pm. The Meal will be Pork Bar-B-Q, Hot Dogs, and Vegtable Soup.
Yesterday morning Engine 49 was dispatched on the Apartment building fire at 130 E. Garfield Street Shippensburg Boro as the 2nd alarm working fire Engine. Upon arrival we were instructed to pick up E-252's line at Ridge Ave and E. Garfield St. and send our manpower foward to assist with fire attack. On Thursday January 12 around 13:35 units were dispatched to South Newton Twp on I-81 in the area of mile marker 32 south bound. Engine 49 and Chief 149 arrived to find the driver of the trsh truck out working on extinguishing a bag of trash on the side of the road. On Thursday December 22 Company 49 was dispatched for a house fire in the 1000 block of Centerville Road. Engine 49 arrived behind Company 50 and found that the fire originated at a fish tank and was extinguished by the home owner. We assisted in checking for extension before being released by Command 50. Photos by Denny Clopper
This past Sunday Santa visited the firehouse to visit with some kids while some of Santa's Elves helped at the firehouse we loaded up some other Elves to go around the Township to visit. We had a GREAT turnout and a special thanks to Rick Foreman for the donation of Oranges and Brian Fickle for all the GREAT photo's.

This Sunday December 18 Santa will be coming to the Firehouse for all those little ones, stop by from 1 pm - 2 pm to get your photo taken and enjoy some snacks. Santa will also be going around the Township to see all those elderly residents.
On Friday December 9th Engine 49 responded to Penn Twp, Beetem Hollow Rd for a reported auto accident with entrapment. Engine 49 arrived and assisted with extracation and loading the patient before being placed in service by command 50. (Photo stolen from Co. 50 webssite)
For the month of November Company 49 responded to 14 fire/accident calls and 9 medical calls. Our year to date totals are 149 fire/accident calls and 79 medical calls for a total of 228 calls. We also did 1 fire prevention activity and 2 trainings.
