Yesterday Company 50 assisted Company 49 with another fire prevention detail at the Quarry Hill School on McCullough Rd. It's nice to be able to work together for one common goal. Thanks again for your assistance.
This afternoon Brush 49 attended fire prevention at the Newville Elem. school. We had a great afternoon for weather.

We would like to thank everyone who came out and attended our annual fairs. We would also like to thank all the businesses that donated money for our fireworks display. See picture below. You can see lots of fair pictures in our events gallery. Thanks to Franklin County Company 17 for covering the station and handling a medical call in Penn Township on Saturday night.
Saturday April 25, 2009 Company 49 Auxilary held a Indoor Flea Market and the Fire Company held a Chicken Bar-B-Q. Thanks to all who attended.

Tuesday night (3/17) we finished up Haz-Mat Ops refresher here at Co 49. We also had a large group of members from Co 46 attend. Thanks to Scott Kovach for teaching this class.
Photo's by Will DavisThe South Newton Twp Fire Co was notified on Thursday that we are receiving a grant from the 2008 Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Fire Fighters Program. The total is $81,605 and will be used to install an emergency generator, a ventilation system to remove the exhaust from the trucks, gear washer and gear racks. We were also recently notified that we are going to receive $10,111.35 from the Pennsylvania volunteer Fire Company grant program.
Today Brush 49 attended the State Convention Parade hosted by Gettysburg Fire Dept. Congradulations to all the companies who won awards.
After spending the week at Glick Fire Equipment Engine 49 received some modifications and is now back in service. Some changes include netting on the cross lays, adding 2 additional pike poles and making a shelf in the cab for the AED & suction unit. Engine 49 is now QRS certified and will handle EMS calls when the Utility is OOS.
We still have a few tickets for sale for the Big Raffle on Saturday September 13. Contact any company member or call the fire station and leave a message.
For the month of August the South Newton twp. Vol. Fire Company responded to 10 Fire/Accident calls and 4 Medical calls. We also had 3 trainings, attended the Path Valley parade and won Best Overall company and Covered Company 50 while they attended a funeral.
LAST EVENING THE COMPANY DUMPED THE STATION TO ATTEND THE PATH VALLEY PICNIC PARADE. THE WEATHER WAS NOT THE GREATEST BUT THE END RESULTS WERE WONDERFUL. COMPANY 49 BROUGHT HOME 3RD PLACE BRUSH TRUCK, 2ND PLACE ENGINE RESCUE AND 1ST PLACE BEST OVERALL COMPANY. GREAT JOB BY ALL AND THIS IS BY FAR THE BIGGEST TROPHY (6 FT TALL) THE COMPANY HAS EVER WON. A SPECIAL THANKS TO PENN TWP FIRE COMPANY FOR COVERING THE "BOTTOM" WHILE WE ATTENDED THE PARADE.
THE NEW BRUSH 49 WENT IN SERVICE JULY 17 AND RECENTLY FINISHED HAVING THE TOOLS MOUNTED IN THE COMPARTMENTS. WE STILL HAVE TO INSTALL EITHER GROUND SWEEPS OR A REMOTE CONTROLED NOZZLE ON THE FRONT TO COMPLETE THE TRUCK. AS FOR THE OLD BRUSH 249 IT WAS PLACED OOS AND IS BEING KEPT IN RESERVE IN HOPES OF HAVING A HOME IN THE FORESTRY MUSEUM.
