Yesterday morning Engine 49 was dispatched on the Apartment building fire at 130 E. Garfield Street Shippensburg Boro as the 2nd alarm working fire Engine. Upon arrival we were instructed to pick up E-252's line at Ridge Ave and E. Garfield St. and send our manpower foward to assist with fire attack. On Thursday January 12 around 13:35 units were dispatched to South Newton Twp on I-81 in the area of mile marker 32 south bound. Engine 49 and Chief 149 arrived to find the driver of the trsh truck out working on extinguishing a bag of trash on the side of the road. On Thursday December 22 Company 49 was dispatched for a house fire in the 1000 block of Centerville Road. Engine 49 arrived behind Company 50 and found that the fire originated at a fish tank and was extinguished by the home owner. We assisted in checking for extension before being released by Command 50. Photos by Denny Clopper
On Friday December 9th Engine 49 responded to Penn Twp, Beetem Hollow Rd for a reported auto accident with entrapment. Engine 49 arrived and assisted with extracation and loading the patient before being placed in service by command 50. (Photo stolen from Co. 50 webssite)
Sunday night around 23:30 units were dispatched to the 400 block of Enola Road for a barn fire. Shortly after responding the fire could be seen from the Walnut Bottom Road across the valley. Engine 49 with 3 and Tanker 49 with 2 and the Fire Chief responded. The Engine was assigned to RIT and the Tanker hauled 6 loads of water. We cleared the scene around 05:30. Wednesday evening around 18:55 Tanker 49 was dispatched for a reported barn fire on Newburg Road in Lurgan Township Franklin County. While enroute Command 51 downgraded the box, but then had Tanker 49 continue in. Tanker 49 hauled 2 loads of water before going available. Photos by Denny Clopper
Yesterday morning at 05:01 Tanker 49 was dispatched for a garage fire at 7000 Molly Pitcher Hwy North. First arriving units found heavy fire. Thanks to Co 36 for covering the station.
Yesterday around 13:42 units were dispatched to 42 Gilbert Road for a garage fire. Engine 49 arrived and supplied E-53 and also assisted with fire attack and overhaul. E-49 cleared at 16:42. Thanks to E-250 for the Transfer coverage.
This morning shortly after 01:00 units were dispatched for an auto accident involving a tractor trailer in the area of the north bound exit ramp at exit 37. After responding county gave updated info advising the accident was in the area of mile marker 38 northbound in Penn Twp. Chief 50 had the box corrected but had the responding units continue. Engine 49 staged at the northbound rest area until being released from the call. All northbound lanes were blocked with a trator trailer double bottom overturned and another tractor trailer into the original accident. The driver of the overturned tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital.

On Friday September 23rd around 18:15 as a group of guys just sat down to start eating wings for station duty the tones dropped for an auto accident on Willis Road in North Newton Township. County advised it was a single car into a tree. We arrived about the same time as Rescue 47 and command held us for a few minutes before being released.
Wednesday was a busy day for Company 49, running 4 calls. We started the day by being dispatched to Centerville Rd in Penn Twp. for an Electrical fire (Engine & Tanker), the second call was to Franklin County on Mainsville Rd for a garage fire (Tanker), the third call was about a minute after the Tanker call for a Medical in Penn Twp on Quarry Hill Rd and the fourth call was for a garage fire on the Walnut Bottom Rd in Southampton Twp (Engine, Tanker and Utility).
This morning units were dispatched for an accident with possible ejection on Ritner Highway in the area of Martin Motors. Units arrived to find 2 vehicles partly blocking the road. Special thanks to Denny Clopper for the photos.
